Our Story

From barrow to barn.

We are a small family business and our history with flowers started long ago. My grandfather was a head gardener responsible for the huge flower displays in Greater Manchester parks way back in the 1950's. My mother spent a life time creating gardens, growing flowers and repeating the names of plants to me long before my own interest was sparked.

My own botanical journey started in the 1980's with the last dried flower boom, Laura Ashley and the nations fascination for all things Edwardian lady. I started designing arrangements and wedding flowers from a tiny flower barrow in the Westmoreland Centre, in Kendal, Cumbria. Over the years life has moved on and trends have come and gone but flowers have grown and woven their colourful beauty throughout our family history.

As they say 'What goes around comes around' and here we are again. With dried and wild flowers taking Interior, Fashion and Wedding style by storm. From wind blown prairie style pampas and huge decorative hanging branch installations to the new, bright and bold painted wild flowers.

Dried flowers are back like never before. At The Wild Bloom Barn we combine the natural treasures found from local woods, meadows and verges and our own flower stocks, with hand-coloured wild blooms and the very best professionally dried flowers, to produce beautiful arrangements and designs. All our bouquets and hoops and created individually by hand, so no two are ever the same.

Along with our range of designs we also provide a custom design service to create pieces to suit your own individual style. Whether these are for your home, wedding, or event we are happy to help. Naturally we want to help you discover the fun of creating your own dried flower masterpieces. We have a good selection of flowers and grasses to purchase by the bunch, hoops and even kits to get you started. Over time we will be adding to our range and hope to introduce workshops hosted at our barn in 2021.

Welcome to The Wild Bloom Barn.
